This New England philosopher was famous for wearing a red and
white stripped shirt and getting lost in large crowds. He had a
girlfriend, a dog, an evil cousin, and a friend who was also a
wizard. Today we remember and celebrate him by talking about that
stuff for five minutes and then focusing on the actual philosophy
in the essay "Self-Reliance." Sorry.
